Taken from the Ghost EP, the latest track from Low River is the ambient, folky ‘Running Wild’. The emotionally heavy track does away with traditional structure and puts a delicate acoustic guitar accompaniment underneath a distant, anguished vocal performance. Strings flitter in and out of the texture, while the lack of percussion provides an open, approach to rhythm guided by the words. The lyrics are abstract, but some of the final lines still hit hard: “Run home, It’s the only place I know, It’s the only place I go”.
